Queens Day

On queensday the store was open and I wore kimono. I choose my black wool with bright blue interwoven pattern. Wool seemed save because the weather forecasts where rainy and cold. The obi is silk soft green with silver but not a good one so ok for working and danger of rain. Against the rules I decided for a black obi jime and obi age, just because they looked nice. My nagajuban is a bright red antique one with black shibory stripes and rinzu cranes, really fun!
My colleague is wearing a jacket and a very nice man from Japan translated the kanji for us. It says: Oishi Kurano-suke the master of the 47 samurai. And I thought it was a merchants coat! I think we looked fun ^_^ and we had a lot of fun too. Many Japanese tourists wanted to take our pictures and some even told me my kimono dress(ing) was very nice *blush*

Wisteria

Just a quick dress in kimono to practice wearing kimono for a day. I will be wearing kimono in the store on Queens day ^_^ and feel I need to walk around in one from now on so I feel more comfortable. Today I chose my just arrived vintage wisteria/fuji tsumugi. Well, the seller said tsumugi it probably is and the weave seems meisen too me (I hope so) Wisteria is for April (maybe I can still wear it in May? Not sure) I love it - it is royal purple and very glossy and soft real vintage silk... *sigh* I made it even brighter by adding a red hakata nagoya obi. I had a hard time choosing the obi jime and went for (I know boring) baby pink. All other colors seemed too farfetched... I don't know, do like this kimono and I am happy with my first real spring motif kimono ^_^

Spring...?

I really hope so. I can't wait for warmer weather. It has been cold for so long that today it felt like it was the first day I saw a lot of spring flowers and blossoms. I saw some before but today I saw many many and thought yes, spring is coming.
How ever, I don't feel springy yet, a little...
The kimono I chose for today gave me a sophisticated spring feel. But, still cool as winter. The sky is still pale cool (freezing) blue and there are a lot of bright white clouds, hence the white obi. The blossoms or leaves (if any one reading this knows what the pattern is, please tell!) on the kimono have stalks in a powdery purple, exactly the same color as a obi-jimi/age set I own, how lucky!

I think I will love this kimono, even though she is stained, maybe I should give spot cleaning a try.
For some reason I had huge problems with my ohashori today and it drove me nuts, I gave up... Let’s enjoy spring and kimono!

Come to think of it and after looking at my pictures some more... this combination is more winter, well... outside still feels like winter and I just heard it will freez again in the night *ugh*
